About Our Organization

Mission Statement: The purpose of Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Black Hills, Inc., is to match quality volunteer mentors with children and young mothers. Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) is the largest provider of one-to-one youth mentoring services in the Black Hills. We have been bringing caring adults into the lives of our children in the Rapid City area for over 47 years. These quality relationships are built on friendship and trust, and are proven to be a significant positive influence in the life of a child, and the volunteer. The mentoring programs have a positive impact on the lives of children and families we serve by offering a professionally supported, relationship between a caring adult and a child. Big Brothers and Big Sisters (Bigs) are friends, mentors, and positive role models to the children (Littles) with whom they are matched. The following represents the continuum of mentoring programs provided by our agency: Big Brother, Big Sister, Big Couple, Big Family, School Mentor, Mother Mentor, Campus Kids, Senior Freshman Mentoring, Native American Mentoring and Mentoring Children of Prisoners. If you would like more information, please contact our agency at 605/343-1488 or visit us on the web at www.bigmentors.com.
